CPSF’s endowed funds are established by community members who want to offer sustainable support for our mission through enduring funding that helps every student succeed. Each fund reflects what the donor cares deeply about, whether it’s STEAM programs, enrichment activities, support for students in need, scholarships, or other areas.
One donor, K.C. Bacon, recently established the K.C. Bacon Fund, which provides a (nonrenewable) $1,000 scholarship annually to a graduating Corvallis High School senior with plans to pursue a degree in the arts.
As a Corvallis High School Class of ‘66 alumnus, it was Bacon’s high school English teacher who made a lasting mark and encouraged him to tap into his imagination. After serving three years in the U.S. Navy, he returned to Corvallis to study religion at Oregon State University.
“Studying religion led me to poetry, and poetry led me to art … You can learn a lot about yourself while trying to carve truth from a painting,” shares Bacon.
Bacon has since donated a large piece of his artwork to CHS, titled “Cat and Mountain Moon,” which is now on display at his alma mater. He has plans for additional contributions to support the Foundation’s mission. His hope is that his art, and his financial support, will inspire future generations of Corvallis High School students for years to come.
